PATHS2INCLUDE project team met in Warsaw

The PATHS2INCLUDE project team gathered in Warsaw, Poland to discuss the latest developments of the project. The two-day meeting was organized by Dr Iga Magda and her team from the Institute for Structural Research (IBS).

The first day of the meeting started with a warm welcome by Dr Iga Magda followed by an update from each team member about their respective areas of work. Dr Ona Valls from the University of Luxembourg presented the recently published working paper on the unequal social impact of the pandemic.

Dr Dominik Buttler (Leibniz University Hannover) explained the methodology and the preliminary quantitative results of their study of discrimination in hiring caregivers and immigrant groups. Dr Justyna Bell (OsloMet), Shirin Reiter and Nick Wessel (Leibniz University Hannover) then presented an overview of the progress of the qualitative part of the study. Mateusz Krząkała from IBS provided the state of play of their ongoing research on the future of work, identifying at-risk groups based on digital skills use and Artificial Intelligence exposure.

After the lunch break, Dr Iuliana Precupetu and Dr Laura Tufa from the Research Institute of the University of Bucharest presented evidence of the qualitative interviews they conducted in Romania. Their study focuses on how companies can retain people with certain vulnerabilities in their organisations. Natalia Carralero from the University of Girona presented their ongoing work on gender beliefs and labour market attachment.

Dr Federico Ciani and Dr Arianna Vivoli (ARCO) then provided an update of their work with EUROMOD data simulating labour market transitions and the related impact in terms of inequality. The consortium had an interesting discussion on the different scenarios to be taken with this data which will feed into the focus on the paper.

Finally, Cloë Rossenbacker from COFACE Families Europe provided an overview of the state of play of communication and dissemination activities. The consortium discussed strategies for long-term impact and the agenda of the upcoming conference.

The second day of the meeting started with a brief administrative update by project coordinator OsloMet. After, consortium team members had the opportunity to have separate meetings to discuss specific aspects of their upcoming work, for example the policy briefs. Some of the ideas that emerged, will be put in practice in the upcoming months.

Overall, this two-day meeting allowed all partners to share updates about their respective areas of work, foster collaboration and discuss the dissemination of the project and its results.
