Last week, the PATHS2INCLUDE team met in the vibrant city of Bucharest to discuss the project’s progress and latest developments. The meeting was hosted by Dr Iuliana Percupetu and her team from the Department of Sociology of the University of Bucharest.
We started the two-days meeting with a warm welcome by Dr Iuliana Percupetu followed by updates by each partner on their respective areas of work. We then discussed the progress made on the development of an interactive map collecting statistics on labour market attachment in Europe. We believe that this tool will be informative and useful for many of you. Significant progress has been made and we will communicate about this in the upcoming months. We also discussed the organisation of future meetings with stakeholders.
We ended the morning with two insightful presentations, the first one on work exit routes among older workers presented by Dr Marian Vasile from the University of Bucharest and Dr Andreea Ioana Alecu from OsloMet; and the other on the impact of health and skills on the risk of weak labour market attachment lead by Dr Iga Magda from IBS.
In the afternoon, Dr Arianna Vivoli and Dr Federico Cianni from ARCO presented the results of their assessment of the determinants of labour market inclusion for vulnerable European citizens. Their results will be available soon.
The second day focused on the contextual conditions of discrimination and the impact of gender, ethnicity, and care responsibilities on employers’ hiring decisions in relation to the organisational contexts. Dr Dominik Butler from the University of Hannover presented the methodology of their study as well as some quantitative preliminary results from a pilot factorial survey experiment. His presentation was followed by qualitative preliminary results from qualitative interviews conducted with employers in four different countries (DE, NO, PL and RO).
We ended this two-days meeting with group work on synergies between the different areas of work of PATHS2INCLUDE.
We thank Dr Iuliana Percupetu and her team for organising this outstanding meeting and all participants for their valuable contributions and the excellent teamwork.
