This policy brief draws on insights from the PATHS2INCLUDE work package “Early and late exit: the impact of national employment policies and institutional factors” and aims to provide recommendations that promote more inclusive and equitable extended working lives across Europe. It examines the main sources of inequality in older workers’ labour-market participation, the effects of recent disruptions such as the COVID-19 pandemic, and the role of organisational practices in shaping opportunities for continued employment. The goal is to inform policymakers, social partners, and employers about effective approaches to ensure that all older workers, especially those in vulnerable positions, can remain active, valued, and protected in the labour market.
